Backstage Pass: What Fans Never See
What really happens backstage before a Sawyer Brown show?
This week on The Boys & Me Podcast, Mark and Hobie take fans behind the curtain for a full Backstage Pass episode — sharing what the final minutes before showtime actually feel like, the unwritten rules of the green room, the backstage habits that never change, and the things fans would be surprised to see before the lights go up.
We kick things off with Backstage at an SB Show Q&A, where Mark and Hobie break down the final 10 minutes before stage, who gets the most locked in, what changes at festivals vs. headline dates, and when it officially becomes “game time.”
Then in The Unwritten Rules Backstage, they reveal the unspoken etiquette of the green room — from who belongs there, what guests should never do, the worst timing for a photo, and the backstage behaviors that get instant side-eye.
Next up is Guess the Rider Item, where the guys hear bizarre rider requests from major artists and try to guess who they belong to — from Starbucks orders and slushie machines to white roses, root beer kegs, and even 12 puppies.
Then it’s time for Backstage Superlatives, handing out quick-hit awards for who’s the tidiest, who loses things before showtime, who brings the best energy, and who would survive best if the power went out backstage.
And to close it out, Mark and Hobie use the paddles for Overrated / Underrated: Pre-Show Rituals, judging things like vocal warmups, coffee before stage, hype music, lucky charms, setlist checks, and pre-show prayer.
If you’ve ever wondered what really happens before the curtain goes up… this one’s for you.
