Next, Mark and Hobie go head-to-head in Who Cut It First?, a buzzer-style trivia segment about famous songs that were originally recorded by somebody else first.
We also dive into Song Surgery, talking through songwriting and production problems — from weak verses and slow hooks to songs that lose their magic in the studio.
And finally, the guys break down what turned classic Sawyer Brown songs like:
“The Boys and Me”

What really happens backstage before a Sawyer Brown show?
This week on The Boys & Me Podcast, Mark and Hobie take fans behind the curtain for a full Backstage Pass episode — sharing what the final minutes before showtime actually feel like, the unwritten rules of the green room, the backstage habits that never change, and the things fans would be surprised to see before the lights go up.
We kick things off with Backstage at an SB Show Q&A, where Mark and Hobie break down the final 10 minutes before stage, who gets the most locked in, what changes at festivals vs. headline dates, and when it officially becomes “game time.”
Then in The Unwritten Rules Backstage, they reveal the unspoken etiquette of the green room — from who belongs there, what guests should never do, the worst timing for a photo, and the backstage behaviors that get instant side-eye.
Next up is Guess the Rider Item, where the guys hear bizarre rider requests from major artists and try to guess who they belong to — from Starbucks orders and slushie machines to white roses, root beer kegs, and even 12 puppies.
Then it’s time for Backstage Superlatives, handing out quick-hit awards for who’s the tidiest, who loses things before showtime, who brings the best energy, and who would survive best if the power went out backstage.
And to close it out, Mark and Hobie use the paddles for Overrated / Underrated: Pre-Show Rituals, judging things like vocal warmups, coffee before stage, hype music, lucky charms, setlist checks, and pre-show prayer.
If you’ve ever wondered what really happens before the curtain goes up… this one’s for you.

In this special anniversary episode of The Boys & Me Podcast, Mark, Hobie, and Madison revisit the Six Days on the Road album and look back on the songs, stories, and moments that still stand out nearly three decades later.
We kick things off by rewatching the “Six Days on the Road” music video, breaking down what still jumps out now, what fans may miss, and what instantly takes them back to that shoot.
Then Mark and Hobie dive into a General Album Q&A, sharing memories from the recording process, the vibe in the studio, why Mac McAnally was the right producer, and what made this album feel different from the one before it.
From there, the crew each rank their Top 5 tracks from the album, debate sleepers, songs that aged the best, and which cuts still hit hardest all these years later.
Then it’s time for Six Days Album Superlatives — from best highway song to biggest crowd reaction, most underrated track, hardest song to sing, and the non-single that could’ve been.
And to close it out, Mark and Hobie go head-to-head in Finish the Lyric / Lyric Recall, racing to identify which songs these lyrics came from.

Faith has always been part of the story.
In this special episode of The Boys & Me Podcast, Mark and Hobie reflect on the role faith has played in their lives, their music, and the Sawyer Brown journey — from their earliest church roots to the moments that felt too perfectly timed to be anything but God at work.
We start with Church Roots Q&A, looking back on the church music, hymns, Sunday mornings, and early experiences that helped shape their love of music before the world ever did.
Then we revisit Making Ring the Bell — talking about where the idea came from, what the process stretched in them personally, and what that film still means all these years later.
We also count down Top 5 Casting Crowns Songs, with Mark and Hobie each sharing the songs that have meant the most to them and why those songs still hit so deeply today.
From there, the episode turns deeply personal in God Moments in the SB Journey, as they share the moments in Sawyer Brown’s history where they clearly saw God moving — open doors, closed doors, hard seasons, answered prayers, and the parts of the story that feel most God-written.
And to close it out, we end with Joyful Noise — a segment all about the songs, artists, and music memories that simply bring joy.
This is one of the most personal episodes we’ve done… and one of the most meaningful.

The Power of Radio (Then & Now)

Wednesday Mar 04, 2026

Wednesday Mar 04, 2026

Before streaming. Before social media. Before algorithms.
There was radio.
In this episode of The Boys & Me Podcast, Mark and Hobie dive into The Power of Radio (Then & Now) — looking back at the era when radio broke songs, built careers, and connected artists to fans in a way nothing else could.
From intense radio tours and long promo days to the DJs and stations that championed Sawyer Brown early on, this episode pulls back the curtain on what radio promotion really looked like.
The guys tackle a fast-paced Radio Trivia buzzer segment, covering everything from where the word “broadcasting” comes from to the most powerful radio station ever built. They also debate radio myths in a True or False paddle round and go head-to-head in an SB Chart Battle, testing their memory of which songs climbed higher on the Billboard charts.
To wrap it up, Mark and Hobie share hard-earned radio wisdom — what artists misunderstand about radio today, and why they still believe it matters.
Radio may look different now, but its impact hasn’t gone anywhere.
